Immaculate Misconception

I have had some bad ideas in my day, like when I was nine and thought baby powder was an adequate substitute for shampoo and water. Or the time I took a katamaran to the island of Gotland the morning after a traditional Swedish crayfish party that featured the traditional Swedish crayfish party drink, aquavit. Both bad ideas. This blog? Who knows. As I grow into this new technology, I keep thinking of Will's words that never seem to grow old (yes, we are on a first name basis):

O, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't!

(The Tempest, act v, scene i)

I may end up being the only person in my brave new blog, except for those characters, fictional and other, who will people my writing and the photographs that will pepper these pages. Or maybe not; maybe some ship will drop sail (or wreck) upon my virtual shore now and then. Either way, this blog can't be worse than an aquavit hangover on the Baltic Sea.
